JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMNETAL TECHNOLOGY

INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS

Preparation of Manuscript

Preamble:

Kindly note that only original articles that have not been published elsewhere are invited. Articles, including Figures and Tables should NOT exceed 17 typed A4 pages, that is, approximately 8500 words. However, theoretical and review papers could be up to a maximum of 10,000. Margins should be 2.5 cm, 12-point font size (Times New Roman), and double-spaced. Papers must be written in English and word-processed in Microsoft Word. The SI units should be used. Tables must be clearly typed using the MS Word Table Template. This should be concise and appropriately informative.

All typing should be left justified. Pages, including figures and tables, should be numbered consecutively in the bottom middle with the title page as page 1. The manuscript should contain the following sections (except for review and commentary articles): Title page; Abstract; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results, Discussion (Results and Discussion could be combined for Qualitative Research designs); Conclusion; Acknowledgement (if any) and References. Figure legends, Tables, and Figures should be typed on separate sheets and placed at the end of the text in this order.

Title page: A separate title page should be submitted with all manuscripts and this page should include:

  1. The full title of the manuscript which must be concise but free from ambiguities should be stated in Title Case, bold, and  must not exceed 18 words
  2. Name(s), affiliations, and highest academic degree(s),
  3. Names, contact addresses, and emails of all authors are to be stated. The corresponding author (identified by an asterisk) should in addition provide his/her phone number.
  4. Short/running title of no more than 45 characters, including spaces. Use superscripts to relate authors to their addresses.

  •

Every manuscript must be accompanied by an abstract of a maximum of 250 words. Up to five keywords that best summarize the article and are arranged in alphabetical order, separated by semi-column, should be provided to facilitate visibility in all search engines, research databases, and indexes to assist the reader and facilitate information retrieval. This must be stated below the abstract.

Body of text:

All headings should be typed in UPPER-CASE letters and bold while sub-headings should be in lower-case and bold. The main headings should be separated by an empty line and not indentation. The SI unit system must be used. Standard abbreviations may be used without definition, and specialized abbreviations should be used only after they are defined when they first appear. Use capital 'T' for Table and 'F' for Figure. Texts should not be repetitions of the contents of Tables. Mathematical formulae should be carefully typed with equation editor and symbols should be in correct alignment and adequately spaced. Each formula should be displayed on a single line if possible. Statistical evaluation of results should be described briefly and if necessary supported by references.

References:

All citations must be in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) style, 7th edition. List of references should show the last names of all authors followed by their initials. The year of publication should be in parentheses. References should be listed in alphabetical order, according to the last name of the first author.

Tables:

Format using the Table menu and not Tabs and Spaces. Tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals with an appropriate title. The title as well as the notes at the bottom of the table should be included inside the Table itself and not in the body of the text.

Figures:

Each figure must be clearly numbered in Arabic numerals and the title and legends should be typed on a separate page.

Editorial Review

Manuscript when received would normally be acknowledged within 24 hours through the email address of the corresponding author. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed by three reviewers. Kindly include 3 names of probable reviewers of your article. However, note Journal is at liberty to, or not to engage any of the suggested reviewers for your specific article.

Research Ethics and Originality

The Journal operates Plagiarism and AI checks, and only manuscripts that meet the global standard practice of originality would be published.

Copyright Assignment

Authors are required to submit the completed Copyright Assignment Form, which will be made available to them, together with the revised edition of their manuscript. As soon as the article is published, authors are agreed to have transferred the copyright to the journal publisher.

Page Proofs and Corrections

Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for checking prior to publication. Corrections at this stage are limited to essential alterations and printer errors. The corrected proof should be returned to the editor within 7 days.

Submission and Handling Charges

Papers should be submitted by e-mail attachment to [email protected] in editable format. Submission of a manuscript implies that the results or opinion reported have not been published or are being considered for publication elsewhere (except in conference proceedings). The journal assumes that all authors of a multi-authored paper agreed to its submission to SETJET. A cover message or letter indicating these statements should accompany the submission.

Payment of Handling Fees

SETJET charges authors for the publication of their articles. The publication charge and subscription rate are subject to review at any time depending on the prevailing cost of production. Each article should be accompanied by non-refundable handling fees of N8,000 (or Dollar equivalence for authors from outside Nigeria). The cover letter by e-mail should contain details of bank payment and information of the corresponding author. After a peer review process, the corresponding author will be contacted via e-mail for required revisions. The publication charge for accepted articles is N25,000.00 (or Dollar equivalence for authors from outside Nigeria) payable before publication.
