Influence of managerial attitude on academic staff job performance in Federal
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Data were drawn from 88 randomly
selected respondents using a structured questionnaire. The mean age of respondents was 42 years
while the mean year of academic experience was 9.25 years. Major managerial attitude were
management delegates responsibilities and authority (???????? = ????. ????????) and management emphasizes
team work, promotes cooperation and identify with the group (???????? = ????. ????????) and they were given
opportunities to use their discretion in carrying out their responsibilities (???????? = ????. ????????) . Major
organizational challenges affecting academic’s job performance were epileptic power supply
(???????? = ????. ????????) , poor communication network (???????? = ????. ????????) , and inadequate facilities (???????? = ????. ????????) .
Significant relationship existed between respondents’ income (r = 0.241, p < 0.05), year of
experience (r = 0.20, p < 0.05), managerial attitude (r = 0.026, p <0.05) and respondent’s job
performance. For adequate job performance, institutions should emphasize team work, promotes
cooperation and cohesiveness among the academic staff for better job performance.
