System modeling is important to the control and the application of the much celebrated chaos theory. However, model development from the basic principles of science and economics may not always be feasible, especially for nonlinear dynamical systems with uncertain range of operations. Modeling such systems calls for adaptive technique using parameter identification. In this paper, a method for the parameter identification of nonlinear systems using particle swarm algorithm is presented. The identification problem is done from measurement data only. Simulation results show that system parameters can be readily identified even in the presence of measurement noise.
