This paper examines the role of technology transfer and its diffusion for sustained
industrial innovation that can lead to socio-economic development in the Nigerian economy. The
paper argues that appropriate policy directions on technology transfer for promoting industrial
competitiveness and socio-economic development in all the national frontier of Nigeria is highly
desirable. Such policy directions include building technology-based enterprises through exploitation
of technology entrepreneurial potential and opportunities within the national innovation system,
improving research–industry linkages, promoting specific technologies relevant to priority areas
by boosting the absorptive and adaptive capacities of local firms as well as creating attractive
investment policies.
