Dental biometrics is used in forensic dentistry to identify or verify persons based on
their dental radiographs. The proposed method, TeMoBIS, works on three types of dental radiographs
which include Periapical, Bitewing and Panoramic dental radiographs. Feature extraction is done
with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Difference Image Entropy (DIE) in parallel. The
result of feature extraction was used to match the already existed in the database, if a match is
found the information on the subject is then retrieved from the database. During the process, 8
Panoramic Dental radiographs, 10 Bitewing Dental radiographs and 48 Periapical Dental
radiographs were used. A threshold of 0.85 was used, and this made the matching accurate. The
system has a recognition rate of 98% with average throughput.
